Marine Cargo Claims in Practice
With increasing globalisation, movement of goods from one part of the world to another is on the rise. According to the World Trade Organisation merchandise exports of its members totalled US$ 15.71 trillion in 2016. This increase in international trade prompted the use of even larger commercial vessels for economies of scale but exposed the industry to high value claims. From the sinking of containership MOL Comfort in 2013 to the Tianjin port explosion in 2015 and the recent Iranian tanker Sanchi which caught fire off the coast of China, there is an increased need for professionals with marine cargo claims experience.
During this three-day intensive course, you will learn the various issues which arise when goods delayed, lost or damaged while in transit. The course will examine the rights and obligations of the carrier but also of the shipper and will address legal issues such as jurisdiction and international conventions applicable to carriage of goods by sea.
In conclusion, you will take part in some case studies relating to real scenarios dealt with by the staff of StilFresh Recoveries.
